The Rule Of 7.

Is It Still Relevant?

A prospect needs to see or hear an advertiser’s message at least 7 times before they’ll take action to buy that product or service. This is a marketing “Rule of 7” that was introduced in the 1930s.
Is this still true, though?
The thing is that by the ’70s, the average consumer saw around 500 ads per day. That number has since increased to between 6,000 to 10,000 ads per person. That being said, it is undeniable that consumers have adapted and learned to filter information that they are being bombarded with.
This makes us believe that the “Rule of 7” still applies, with the exception that the consumer needs to not see or hear your message but to notice, listen and remember it.

Lastly, there is diversification, which is the riskiest move, as it means that you are creating a new product/service and introducing it into a new market.
