Adapt Or Die.

How Swedish Hotel Turned Its Rooms Into A Restaurant

Today most businesses had to adapt to the current situation in one way or another. As much as it’s a sad thing, it is a good thing! Adapting makes humanity stronger as a whole and we will never get tired of looking at how creative people are with their ideas. Thinking outside the box can lead to great things. Now we are all preparing for “the new normality”, but no one actually knows what a “new normality” is, so any crazy ideas are welcomed. What you think is crazy today, can potentially provide a solution for many in the long run.
In Sweden, people were never under a strict lockdown, but they are still afraid to go out and be around many other people. This year the owner of Lidköping (a town in Sweden) Stadshotellet Hotel realized that he has a 70% drop in business compared to the same period last year. A lot of their revenue came from their restaurant and now it was empty because people did not consider it safe.
The solution is brilliant! They turned their 67 rooms into 67 pop-up restaurants. When guests come in, they are taken into their personal room, where they find a table set for the meal with lit candles and music playing in the background. Once patrons decide what they would like to eat from the restaurant menu inside the room, they can call the hotel and place their order. When their meal is ready, the hotel staff delivers it from the restaurant to the guests.
The wonder does not believe that there will be the need for this kind of service once all the restrictions are lifted, however, we simply don’t know. Even if this is just a temporary solution, it has shown us that it is possible to stay open and to show people that you are open, so they don’t forget about your business.
